The Lonergan Collection at the Veech Library

Over 30 years, the Australian Jesuit Lonergan Centre developed and maintained a small specialized library at Canisius College, Sydney, which held all Lonergan’s published works, many of his unpublished writings, secondary sources on Lonergan and secondary sources used by Lonergan in his own work.

The library was maintained by Jo Wickens with the support of Rev. Michael Shields, SJ and Dr. Daniel Monsour of the Toronto Lonergan Centre.

In 2012, under a Memorandum of Agreement between the Jesuit Provincial, the President of the Catholic Institute of Sydney and the Director of the Australian Jesuit Lonergan Centre, the Lonergan Library was moved to the Veech library at the Catholic Institute of Sydney and maintains its integral unity as the Canisius Lonergan Collection. The Veech library is a registered public library and the Catholic Institute of Sydney is a member of the Sydney College of Divinity. As a result, the Lonergan Collection is more available to the public.

Publications in the Lonergan Collection can be interrogated through the Veech library catalogue.
